About me
Hi, I'm Sebastián — though most people call me Seba.
I'm from Las Piedras, Uruguay, a small city about 30 minutes from Montevideo. I've been working as a Software Engineer for over 7+ years, primarily as a Ruby on Rails developer, building scalable backend systems that support real, evolving products.
I'm a Software Engineer graduated from Universidad ORT Uruguay. My thesis project was a cloud-native streaming platform designed to enable organizations to host white-label live video experiences with full branding and monetization control. I led the end-to-end planning and development process — from system architecture and implementation to payment integration and deployment — taking ownership of both technical decisions and product direction.
I currently work at Hint Health as part of the Core product team. We build and maintain a large-scale healthcare platform used by Direct Primary Care clinics across the United States. I work across the stack within a Ruby on Rails and Elm codebase, with a stronger focus on backend development — contributing to critical product functionality and the continuous evolution of a system that needs to be reliable, adaptable, and long-lived.
Previously, I worked at Rootstrap as a Senior Ruby on Rails engineer. I contributed to both in-house products and staff augmentation projects for US-based clients across multiple industries, collaborating closely with distributed teams, shipping production features, and mentoring other engineers along the way.
As a teenager, volunteering activities led me to participate in an exchange program where I traveled to San Francisco and Washington, DC. That experience expanded my perspective beyond my local environment and sparked a lasting interest in discovering new places and cultures.
Outside of work, I enjoy being outdoors — walking by the beach or going for long bike rides to disconnect and reset. I also enjoy cooking and experimenting in the kitchen. I love animals and share my home with two cats.
I care about attention to detail, I value thoughtful feedback, and I ask questions to make sure I truly understand the problem before jumping into solutions. I enjoy pair programming and working through challenges together.
If you'd like to talk, collaborate, or just say hi, feel free to send me an email.
